|
|
Update on a new home for Canton Roll Session and Soccer.
Janine and I visited with the Canton Meyers Lake YMCA this afternoon. They are very receptive in having us for roll sessions on Sundays from the hours of 9:00am - 11:00am. I know this may be a problem with some people, so I would love to see some input from those who can and cannot do this. Currently they do not have soccer goals, but I will find an option before our first pool session. They even expressed the interest in purchasing the goals from the Northeast Canton Community Center. So if we get the pool we will have soccer. They express concerns about launching boats from the side of the pool. I told them that we can enter the boats in the pool if that is what they request. Also they do not like the idea of canoes in the pool. Sorry Karl
Here is a link to the pool with pictures. http://www.ymcastark.org/meyers-lake-facilities
I will have more information in a few days regarding pay. I expect it to be very reasonable. I expect the first session after Thanksgiving if I get enough positive feedback.
If you have any questions or ideas, please email, post, or call me.
I believe this is our best option at this time. The location is right off of 77 and the facility is top notch.
Thanks, and lets make this happen.

Is that a hot tub I see in one of those pictures?
Can't wait to get cozy with a bunch of stinky boaters in there! |

Chuck M. was commenting on it also. I already banned him from using it.

This is great news, thanks for doing the leg work Dan. You can count on Joyce and I to attend. An early morning session is not a bad thing , we can do lunch after and still have the rest of the day to unwind and relax before starting the monday grind. I am curious as to how many people would attend a morning session? If you think that this could work please post a response here. I like the location alot.
Chuck M.
By the way I will still show everyone how to make a jacuzzi in the hot tub, even if the bubbles arent turned on. _________________ Hard work pays off in time, Lazyness pays now |

Hi Dan,
Thanks for finding another pool. The times and location work fine for us. Looking forward to the warm water.

I plan to be there some of the weekends. The time is not a problem for me.
Glad we could find a new spot.
Tim's Tavern is right next door and they have great food - lunch spot.

The closing of the Canton pool has created diffiulties for the boat polo group. Thanks for getting us a new site on such short notice.
There are two problems for me
I have trouble getting into the boat from water--but will try.
I don't think I can make the time unless I drive up the night before. I understand there is a rolling session on Saturday in the Cleveland area. I am thinking of driving up on Saturday and taking in both Saturday and Sunday rolling sessions and then being really sore on Monday. This means that I will not be there at all sessions.
Please suggest which Saturday rolling session would be best for me and give me detailed directions.

Judy,
Janine and I at times do the Orange Roll Times. I know Chuck and Joyce plan on doing the Orange Roll Times also. I think Janine was going to get in contact with you to discuss this.
We all hope you can join us this year.

Dan~ You are doing a great job! I couldn't have done any better. I will try to make it as much as possible. 9AM is pretty freakin' early on a Sunday though!
I think we can work on them about launching from the side of the pool though. It will be really tough on beginners to enter a boat in the water. Of course they can always have their instructor help them stabilize the boat.
This pool is actually a little closer to my house, not that I was complaining before knowing how far some people drove to the old pool.
Good news! There are plenty of great places for lunch really close too!
I talked to Shawn and he was hoping we would find a new pool. He was debating whether to buy his wife a boat.
I hope I remember how to roll after all this time!
PS Dan got a new raft. Do you think they will allow that in the pool? _________________ Joey

I see they have a backboard against the wall. That may be needed for kayak soccer this year! _________________ Joey

For those wondering where we stand on reserving the Canton Pool, I don't know yet. Apparently, the Aquatics Director has been sick. I left her a voice mail yesterday and hope to hear something soon. If I do get a thumbs up I hope to have our first session December 6th.
I will start a new thread once I get some new news.
Thanks for the support and patience.
