Depending on water levels, ice, and weather, would anyone like to hit the Cuyahoga this weekend or Monday?
Either section is cool with me.

The plan is to boat somewhere Sun after the Canton pool around noon or so somewhere.

Call me if interested and we will figue it out. I will be in the pool from 9-11 trying not to get killed playing soccer. The river will be safer.
These are the latest reports from my staff in the field:

"From weathernet5 for sunday:

cloudy. Rain likely, mainly in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 30s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Channel 3 says 0.46" between noon sunday and 6am monday, significant runoff

Current water levels: Cuyahoga 275 Tinkers 159.

There's so much snow on the ground, it won't take much for tinkers to go. Cuyahoga will shoot up a lot real quick. I think it depends on when the rain comes in(if we have light).

But I'm down to get on the water sunday afternoon. I'd boat monday morning too.

Also, I've been looking at a section of brandywine creek, below the falls for ~3/4 of a mile. I'm gonna get on that at some point this spring. Maybe monday morning. It's short, so it'd be best to combine it with a tinkers run."

"Here's the cuyahoga ice update:

The gorge is BEAUTIFUL right now, lined with icicles that are blue, white, and rust colored. Huge icicles. It would be worth checking out if you're going to pass it. The footbridge was the best vantage point.

Dam - Good
Rookie - Good
Staircase - Right 2 channels blocked with ice at water level. Left channel 3 feet or so is open. High consequence if you roll or blow the line there . . . . I'm would scout it from the RL shore for sure.

Downstream - I couldn't see ice to the first exit point, I suspect it's blocking the main hike-out point (the exit from plain dealer day)

The hike out will be extreme, we'll have to rope up boats. Walking on flat ground was difficult. Hiking out of that gorge with a boat will be impossible. We're going to have to set up a rope for sure.

The water level looks to be going up faster than the gauge is showing, and that's without the rain we're gonna get tomorrow.

So, basically, hope something else runs. The hike out is gonna take longer than the run. It would be worth the effort to get pictures at water level, if nothing else.

Tomorrow afternoon is going to be an adventure either way."
