Looking to practice

Postby lbeamer » Tue Jun 06, 2017 8:33 pm

I'm a new KH, fresh out of the Slip Clinic and looking to practice more on WW. I'm planning on getting out this weekend July 10th or 11th (maybe both), probably on the Cuyahoga, Rockside Section, G. Fitzwater Rd. to Rockside Rd. It sounds like a good place to take it easy and practice the motions. I'm also open to suggestions. If you would like to join, I'm open for either day, anytime.

Thanks for pointing that out! I saw the sk/fw rating and just assumed it was just flat water. Although, I don't know what sk means.

sk means sea kayak

Almost every weekend someone is paddling the slippery rock, sometime impromptu rips are easier to find on Our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/1823130607959515/
or Paddling Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/163595167094264/

There is a lower and middle Yough scheduled trip in a few weeks.

John, for the record I think the SK/FW rating is misleading to new members. The section from Tannery park to middlebury road is truly flat water, but not peninsula to Boston mills. I won't take my downriver boat to peninsula because of the tight turns required in two Rapids. They are not big rapids but it is a good place to practice ferrying, eddying, surfing, etc. Just sharing my thoughts as I have always disagreed with the rating. I hold this trip yearly for new kayakers because I remember it was hard to find beginner trips back in the day. -Ann

These ratings are easily changeable, but I need in put from local paddlers. It would help the whole club if you would take a look at our rating page http://keelhauler.org/khcc/khcrr.htm
and assign a rating to this section and if there are mistakes on any other section note those also. I would appreciate your help.
