Harlingen, TX to Tampico, MX Next Detailed Map - Go to Mexico Trip Map 2

When we leave Houston and drive to Harlington, TX, we will try to get our Mexican FMT (Tourist Visa) in the afternoon, exchange some Dollars into Pesos and spend the night at a Super Wal-Mart in Harlingen. We then will be able to cross into Mexico after 6 AM and our first decision is whether to take the longer, but better roads route though Ciudad Victoria, or take the more direct route through Soto La Marina. Our plans are to make it to the Country Express Hotel, which has a large parking area for RV's, a shower and a restaurant. It is just before Tampico, we stayed here two years ago. I estimate that we could get there as early as 2PM. If we do make it that early we could continue through Tampico all the way to Cerro Azul. Which is the next place that I know there is a campground, since we stayed there in 2005. However it is a good 125 mi more which could take 3 hours on this section of road.
